Experimentation is always a part of oiling. We are so used to a prescriptive society where we are told which one, how many and how often. It doesn’t always work that way, friends! Each of us have a unique body chemistry and emotional state and hence, we have unique oily needs. If you are giving up after one night of trying an oil for sleep, you are not taking your health into your own hands. This is about EMPOWERMENT and figuring out what works best for you… and whether it’s sleep, digestion, respiratory health, immune support – YOU are the BOSS and YOU have to slow down, pay attention, listen to your body and figure out what works best!
2. Use your Starter Kit Oils
Peace & Calming. Lavender. Stress Away. Frankincense. Combine them, diffuse them, apply them… FYI – Lavender was NOT a sleepy oil for me at first. That’s ok. Lavender + Frank was much better for me. So again, go back to point 1 regarding experimentation if you need a refresher.
3. Use all Modalities
Use all modalities for sleepy oils. Internal, topical and aromatic usage. These days, I am getting amazing sleep with a Copaiba & Lavender capsule (yes both oils are part of the YL Vitality Line which means we can ingest them), rubbing Relaxation massage oil all over my belly and Cedarwood all over my feet, and with a diffuser loaded up with oils. Do I always need this much sleep support? Nope, but I’m mega preggo and between getting up to pee, shifting from side to side, and my restless legs (and sometimes anxious mind), I need a lot of oils! I’m not skimping these days because I know sleep will be in short supply very soon here!
4. Use Cedarwood
The next oil you need to get if sleep is a wellness goal: Cedarwood. This oil helps the brain stimulate the production of melatonin. For me, it shuts down all of that overthinking and helps me unwind like nothing else. It’s high in sesquiterpenes which delete bad info from our cells and it’s a MEGA value at under $12 for a 15-ML bottle. I would pay $50 per bottle for this magic.
Try diffusing Cedarwood in your diffuser with lavender at night or rub it onto wrists and the bottoms of feet.
5. Use CBD Oil
CBD oil is amazing for sleep, in addition to so many other awesome benefits! Try our Calm Roller with our high quality CBD oil infused with Lavender, Eucalyptus, Frankincense, Orange, Vetiver, and Ylang Ylang Essential Oils.. Apply liberally to wrists and the back of neck before bed to promote relaxation and quiet the mind.
6. Other Oils to Keep at your Bedside
Sacred Mountain, Peace & Calming, Orange, Tangerine, Sacred Frankincense, Sleepyize, Dream Catcher, Idaho Balsam Fir, Northern Lights Black Spruce, Gentle Baby, Clary Sage, Grounding, Tranquil roll-on. I will combine these for the diffuser and/or apply them. What are your favorites?! What helps you unwind and get a good night’s sleep?! SHARE share share!!
7. Learn about your oils.
Read about them in your pocket reference guide. Apply them and notice how they make you feel. Try new concoctions. Pay attention to what you are drawn toward and why. Soon you will be oiling yourself with a sense of intuition that you did not perhaps have at first.
Good sleep is worth it, friends!
Go and make it happen!
